Waxing - What is it?

Waxing is arguably the most effective temporary body hair removal technique currently available. The process involves placing warm or hot wax on the surface of the skin in the direction of the hair growth and then placing a cloth strip onto the wax. As the wax cools, it attaches to the hair. The strip is then pulled away quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth. This results in the hair being pulled out of the skin from its roots. Cold waxes that are attached to strips can also be used. These strips are placed firmly on the skin and then stick to the hairs. The strip is then removed in a rapid pulling motion. For efficient body hair removal, the hair should be at least 1 cm long before using the waxing procedure.

Waxing is usually performed on the legs, arms, underarms, face, and bikini/pubic area, but may be used on others areas such as the stomach, back, and chest. It is a very effective method for removing large amounts of hair all at once. Results can last up to six weeks. With successive waxing treatments, often the hair grows back at a slower rate and becomes finer. In each waxing session, some hair roots are permanently destroyed, leading to less and less hair re-growing in the treated area.

Body and Mind Studio pedicures are not just limited to nails; dead skin cells on the bottom of feet are rubbed off using a rough file. Additionally, leg care below the knee is included in our pedicure which includes foot exfoliation, a brief leg massage and application of moisturising creams.

A Body and Mind Studio facial treatment is a great way to take care of your skin. During one of our facials, performed by our experienced beauty therapist Heidi Somers, you can expect your skin to be cleansed and exfoliated using products suitable for your particular skin type. It is then followed by extraction if necessary, then face mask, face massage and moisturising products.

Our facials suit all skin types and ages and pampers you perfectly. They will leave your skin cleansed, satin smooth and relaxed. Regular facials will keep your skin from appearing dull and will help to keep you looking youthful.

A Body and Mind Studio ‘Mini Facial’ lasts for approximately 30 minutes, and a ‘Full Facial’, 60 minutes. Go on, spoil yourself!
